Chattanooga Times Free Press: Mountaintop Removal Opponents Target UBS

While Hands Off Appalachia! is working to stop UBS’ funding mountaintop removal coal mining [MTR], we understand, particularly in the case of Chattanooga, Tennessee, that our Allies in community are being affected in similar ways.  The same white supremacist, capitalistic exploitation and de-humanization of populations in the coal fields is occurring in the cities of Southern Appalachia. HOA!’s urban Allies are actively addressing these issues on-the-ground.

HOA! stands with Concerned Citizens for Justice in their work to defend and secure Black Appalachian communities against police brutality and oppression, just as CCJ stands with HOA! to protect the people of rural Appalachia from pollution, cancer and displacement. Check out CCJ’s Chattanooga Cop Watch program.
